Sunday Movie

Inspired by a true story of Pierre Dulaine, Take the Lead is one of my absolutely favorites when it comes to dance flicks. Want to see something other than 'Pop, Lock and Drop it' moves, indulge in the sexiness of salsa and the tango in this fun and upbeat movie starring Antonio Banderas.

Saturday Happy

So you know the genius who wrote The Fault in Our Stars and Looking for Alaska, John Green? Well I just stumbled across his Crash Courses on his YouTube account, his educational videos are not only informative, they are also highly entertaining and down right hilarious!!! I'm not suggesting you to his site, I'm telling you check him out this instant. You'll thank me later! Anyways, what's making you happy this week?

Friday Mornings

Happy Friday everyone, how have you all been?! This week seriously went by in the blink of an eye. With work, travel, school, exhaustion and the faintest feeling of getting sick, I'm calling it a weekend. I'll be getting my swerve on and rocking out at a Robin Thicke concert this evening with a friend and then it's off to spending the rest of the weekend in bed (and I don't plan on wearing anything other than pj's). With school work, 12 Years a Slave and cough drops at my bedside (isn't this the prettiest bedding?), I'll catch you all next Monday.  Have a good one :)

A New Sister

This past Saturday my brother and my new sister exchanged their vows. It was a perfect spring day in  North Carolina to share love, experience joy and to celebrate these two extraordinary people. I tried to keep it together during the ceremony but couldn't help from tearing up. Cocktail hour helped relieve some emotion and united family and friends to officially congratulate the couple. By the reception, the drinks were flowing, the music was playing and everyone was flocking towards the dance floor to get their jig on. A few snapshots to share with you all :)

The Daily Escape

Having spent so little time in the south, the travelbug itch has me aching to venture into southern territory. I've spent some time in North Carolina, Southern Indiana and New Orleans but that's it when it comes to my time in the South. With so much history, culture and truly divine food, I can't stop thinking about Savannah Georgia. Seeing Savannah in a number of shows and that infamous cemetery in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, I'm ready to pack the bags and check the sites, dive head first into the southern culture and munch on some biscuits and mac and cheese. Have you been? Please share your recommendations and suggestions :)

Those College Days

This past weekend at my brothers wedding I was surrounded by Notre Dame alumni. Parts of the wedding included pieces of the bride's alma mater (how we never met each other while we both went to school in South Bend, Indiana still gets me) and uniting in traditional ND songs, I couldn't help but remember my time at Saint Mary's and all the memories I shared with friends from across the street.

The Fernweh Girl

I'm heading out and going back to the south for some serious celebration over the weekend. With food, endless amount of champagne and toasting, coral and mint surrounding me, perhaps a few embarrassing moments and dancing and singing the night away, my smile is reaching ear to ear. So have a fabulous weekend and we'll catch up next week :)

New word for the week, fernweh: the aching for distant places, a craving for travel.

this week's favorites...

It may not be Manhattan but I'm totally in love with Brooklyn. I've spent very little time but I keep myself in check with what's happening across the river in Brooklyn via blogs and constantly reading how it's the "It" place, right now! What do you think, yay or nay to living or visiting in Brooklyn?

The Carry On

When I travel I literally write up a list of everything I need to take and check it off as I'm packing (which by the way I despise packing, my excellent procrastination skills always kick in and I usually lay out and pack by midnight the night before). Without lists, I fail at life! That is why this trusty little notepad helps get me through the night a little more quickly. A few of my 'Carry On' essentials include Aleve for headaches due to my baby ears that can't take the ascension, a sleep mask, comfy clothes and shoes, a big enough bag that I can refer to as my 'Mary Poppins' bag to carry everything, a few treats and at least one book and my favorite gadgets: cool looking but noise canceling ear phones and an iPad mini (have your heard Everything is Embarrassing by Sky Ferreira)!!! What are your essentials while traveling?

Making Magique

I've been following Miss Haleigh for three plus years and haven't grown tired of her alluring prose or her pretty pictures just yet. She's real and quite honest, she loves shoes and her closet screams feminine but rebel too, she prefers desserts and is an American twenty-something girl living in Paris. Her diary of magique simply inspires dreamers and readers. I'm just one of those girls! If you haven't seen her blog, I highly recommend checking it out this second! Have a nice day :)

The Wedding Dress

Last August I ventured to North Carolina to be a part of the planning process for my brother and sister-in-law's wedding and now that it's just a few days away, wedding dresses have certainly been on my mind (and am already thinking about what mine will one day look like). Which by the way, the bride's wedding dress is to die for! When she sent me pictures of her trying on the dress last summer, I was instantly in love. Since then, I've mentally been imagining my own dress. At this point all I know is it's going to be lace, with a little bit of a low back and the neckline laying across my collarbone. I also love the idea of having colorful shoes underneath the dress, like a bright pink or red!

Drama Play Service

Like most little kids, my dream of make it big in Hollywood was quickly shot down. While I did have my chance at live theater, I grew to love stage performing. Everything from dancing, acting and singing, I loved everything about showbiz. Since my voice would never take me front and center, I resorted to taking theater classes and working sets in college. My intro into theater class during my sophomore year of college was probably one of my favorite courses I took while in school. Being the over achiever I was, after reading the assigned scripts I secretly went and bought the additional reading my professor included in the syllabus. The five shown above are just a few of my favorites, read them and tell me what you think :)
