Keepsakes

"Dear Sarah...I found this journal in my closet and thought to myself, 'this is for Sarah.' My imagination took me to a book I once read about two sisters who traveled to Europe and kept a journal. Perhaps this small gift could be a keeper of memories for you and your sister while in New York City this summer-just a thought."

As one of my graduation gifts, I received this journal from a close friend of my mother, she's the librarian at the school my mother teaches at and in some weird way this wonderful person and I share this great and incredible bond (probably because we're both british history buffs and lovers of books). However, this particular gift was one of the most meaningful. As a person who has kept a diary since the age of about five or six years old, this is possibly the reason why I love and cherish this gift so much. Every night, I sit at my dining room table, I look out at the beautifully lit skyline and jot down everything and everyone I encountered that day. Thank you Nancy Balloy!
