Buffalo Check

I am obsessed with J. Crew's Perfect Shirt in Buffalo Check collection, it's the perfect blend, masculine meets feminine. I've always had this thing for slightly over-sized men's flannels and checked collared shirts. Finally, I have found you!!! What color would you choose

Going to the Annual Halloween Bazaar

One my favorite festivities around Halloween were all the bazaars and festivals that surrounded my most favorite holiday. Growing up in a small community,  the annual fall bazaar  was a particular big event and not just for the Catholics but you better believe everyone in town showed up to the St. Joan of Arc Bazaar.   Everyone was out and ready to celebrate the autumn season, attend a great festival and getting ready for Halloween. Despite it being organized by the local catholic church, I'm pretty sure everyone in town came at least one of the two nights full of activities. My family was always in charge of the goldfish booth, after all the fish my sister and I would win I could tell my parents weren't always thrilled to bring home fish, especially when we had one that lived well over a year! Oh, the memories of the October Bazaar, how I miss getting in the mood for a night of obscene amount of cotton candy and caramel apples, prizes like stuffed animals, taking home goldfish and naming them silly names, dunking parents and teachers in the dunk tank and staying up way too late for an eight year old.

Let's Be Honest

My dream would be to open and run a second book store complete with shelves to the the ceilings brimming with books collected from all over the world and one very tall book ladder, who know like the one here in The Mummy. They're always on the most charming of streets, tucked in the corner with people in a single file line because the rows of shelves are too narrow for two or three people to walk side by side. Yes, these are the places that make me smile from ear to ear, where my mind wanders into different time periods and across the world from British India in A Passage to India to Kenya with Osa  and Martin Johnson to Victorian New York with Sara Crewe in A Little Princess. What a lovely way to spend your day, getting lost in a sea of books and with characters that are too hard to forget.  If you had the opportunity to do whatever it was your little heart desired what would you do or be? I'm very curious, please share?!

This Week's Favorites

This weekend is the Notre Dame vs. Stanford game and I couldn't be more excited to be back in Indiana roaming the tailgates and being back in the crazy mix of excited and drunken college students. You'll find me sneaking into the student section with my sister and being hoisted up for push-ups!

Off and Away

I"m taking off tomorrow for a quick but much needed trip to the good ol' Bend in Indiana for a Notre Dame football game and visiting my sister while she's cracking those accounting books (she's in her first semester of the masters program in accounting at Notre Dame-so glad I chose librarianship). I'm so looking forward to sporting my boots, knits and tights and being able to fit in with the rest of the crowd and being back in my home away from home!! And most importantly I'll be visiting my alma mater at Saint Mary's right across the street.

The Pajama Game or Gosford Park?

Instate a movie club!! Every week or so your invite your closest friends over for big girl treats like carmilized popcorn, raspberry filled chocolate and plenty of bubbly . Time to gather, relax, enjoy each other's company and indulge in a classic like The Pajama Game to a good old fashion mystery like Gosford Park, or go for something light-hearted and silly like Clueless.

October Gave A Party

October gave a party

The leaves by hundreds came-
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.

The Chestnuts came in yellow,
The Oaks in crimson dressed;
The lovely Misses Maple
In scarlet looked their best;
All balanced to their partners,
And gaily fluttered by;
The sight was like a rainbow
New fallen from the sky.

Then, in the rustic hollow,
At hide-and-seek they played,
The party closed at sundown,
And everybody stayed.
Professor Wind played louder;
They flew along the ground;
And then the party ended
In jolly "hands around."

Tomato Soup and French Baguettes

When it comes to this time of year I can't help wanting to eat soup close to everyday. Pairing tomato soup with a french baguette or chicken noodle and a stack of saltines, you name a soup I'll probably eat it and love it! What are some of your favorite food staples during these colder months?!
