New Suits

Image
Just a few swimsuits I've been eyeing over at Anthropologie and Free People, I'm especially digging the pink Free People bikini, what do you think, buy it immediately?!

Beachy

Image
The summer is practically here in desert, the sun is in full force, the temperature is already hitting triple digits, staying in doors 24/7 is pretty much your only option, so it's that time of year to start flocking to the beach. I'm already dreaming of the people packed sandy beaches of Del Mar and Laguna Beach. So grab your frayed shorts, havaianas, straw hats and sunscreen and dip your toes or go for a swim in the deep blue because I'm sure ready to play hooky and head to the beach.

Weekend Wrap Up

Image
weekend attire consists of uniforms, like this  baseball tee my brother gave me-i love it!   creating road trip playlists, courtesy of  kate spade.   new subscriptions and making new routines.  as a little girl of the 90's when you have an older  brother your childhood favorites include sandlot,  little big league, the mighty ducks plus more...  summer is around the corner which calls for  new sand colored sandals.   research and a little light reading.  enjoying a ducks game with the beau.  craving a turkey sandwich from my favorite  manhattan deli.

Friday Movies

I don't think I've mentioned I'm some what of a Shakespearean nerd, having a concentration in British History this kind of thing seems obvious, right?! I've read and reread my absolute favorites, Twelfth Night, The Tempest, As You Like It, Romeo and Juliet, The Two Gentlemen of Verona... but embarrassingly I don't even own a annotated collection of Shakespeare's work...this will be changed immediately! In college, I'd check out any and everything on reserve from the English Lit courses in the library and read them for myself, as you see it's an obsession. So when I saw Joss Whedon's adaption of  Much Ado About Nothing, I instantly became giddy. So as you may know I'm all to excited to see this interesting version of this play!!

Friday Mornings

Image
I don't know about you but I've had some longs days these past few weeks. Like waking up early completing long lists of to-do's, working, running around, finishing test and assignments and having my mind in a million places at once, so when I get home at night I pretty much eat dinner and pass out as soon as I hit the sheets. So I'm looking forward to the semester being over and taking some much needed off for myself to catch some z's, move from bed to couch and hang with my ladies and my man as much as possible. I'm off to Anaheim to see the Ducks game this weekend and I couldn't be more excited to relax, have some fun and spend the weekend with my guy. Have a fun filled weekend, see you Monday!!!

this week's favorites..

Image
I've been a dedicated follower of Emily's since 2010 and I love everything about about her style, it's comfortable, chic, modern and above all else inspirational. Last summer I had the chance to meet her and I've gotta say I fell in love with her blog even more so after meeting her, she's completely down to earth and sweet as pie. As somewhat of a newbie to Style Me Pretty, I went ga-ga when Emily's home was up on the site. So to end this week, this is my inspiration-the lovely interiors of Ms. Emily Schuman's L.A. abode.

The Great Gatsby

Image
Possibly the greatest story ever written, if not it's close too...well at least in my opinion. I've already reread it in anticipation for the film and I cannot wait, it's not like I've been counting down or anything!! Keeping it short and sweet, just feast your eyes and soak up the greatness of The Great Gatsby. Can you get enough, I certainly can't!!

Simple Will Do Just Fine

Image
The prefect light, easy, simple summer dress. Just like I tend to head towards the greys and navys I also have a particular soft spot for simple, solid color, non-patterned outfits. I know boring, but sometimes you just want a clean cut and simple outfit, right?! Like it, love it, head on over to J.Crew

Grey Matters

Image
As much as I love color (many, many people assume pink is my favorite color), I naturally tend to gravitate towards colors like Navy and Grey more than any other color. On a typical mother daughter shopping date the usual stops usually include J. Crew, Anthropology and Lululemon. The scenario goes a little something like this, we'd step into a store and the first cute thing I'd find or pick out my mother or sister would laugh at me and lightly scold me, Sarah your closet is full of grey and navy, add some color to your wardrobe. I can't help it there's something so easy, comfortable and effortlessly chic about the color grey that I will never get tired of. What's your opinion, yay or nay to grey?!

The Nerdist

Image
I'm relatively new to the station, The Nerdist, my boyfriend is a pretty big fan and kind of got me into it and now I can't seem to get enough of these guys.  I've recently gotten into the show so I've only listened to the latest five or six episodes but I absolutely love it. These guys seriously make me laugh out loud-Chris, Jonah and Matt are honestly the perfect team. Check out their page at The Nerdist.

Question of the Day

Image
It was towards the end of my college experience when I started hearing my friends and classmates getting into the world of Podcasts, they'd be talking about their favorite shows before class or at dinner in the dining hall and I just felt so out of the loop. It all started when an NPR radio host came and spoke to my class-Anthropology for Women. She mainly discussed ways in which we as students could get involved with organizations that help women in developing countries across the world, from then on it was all about getting into with podcast stations. Inevitably, I started perusing the podcasts Itunes provided to try to find stations I would be interested in and at the time I just couldn't find any that really sparked an interest and kind of gave up on the pursuit.   However more recently, I've been a bit more willing to try the whole podcasting thing over again. Usually in our late night discussions after I've been doing homework related assignments, researching an…

Have you seen Rust and Bone starring Marion Cotillard and Matthias Schoenaerts; it's one of the most beautiful and powerful films I've seen in awhile. Rent, watch it and then watch it again!

Friday Mornings

Image
How has your week been so far, I am so ready to plop down on the couch and call it a day. I'll be so happy when I get my big three week break between the end of this semester and the beginning of summer school...I'm so ready to say see ya to school but gotta get're done, are you feeling me all your grad students out there?! I keep reminding myself it'll be worth it in the end, that is if I can make it another year and a half. I wish I could say I'll be chilling by the pool, sipping on margaritas and enjoying the sunshine but I'll be working on lengthy papers all weekend, with a few breaks in between!! Hope your weekend is filled with popsicles, straw hits, being lazy by the pool or enjoying an awesome rain and thunder storm!! See you all Monday!!

this week's favorites...

I'm already dreaming about summer and all the fun swim accessories that are about to come out, but I'm especially in love with these beautiful old fashion swim caps, if only they were still fashionable pieces. What are you looking forward to this summer?!

Cruisin'

Image
The first time I went to New Orleans, I was only there for three short days and they were jam packed with things to do from celebrating my twenty-third birthday and attending anthropology conferences at the American Anthropology Association that year. As much as I enjoyed every minute of the trip, I was saddened we didn't get enough time to spend more time in and around New Orleans. A friend and I especially wanted to take a swamp tour but unfortunately that never happened. Next time you better believe that is the first thing that will be on my list!!
