Friday Mornings...

Image
How's everyone's week been so far, I've had one long and busy week! School ends next week so the stress and craziness is almost at an end and I'm about to jump up and down with my hands in air screaming I've made it through my first semester of grad school. Then I'll go into hibernation for a solid week or so and do nothing but sleep (with grey surroundings and little distraction like this lovely gem of a bed) and be a bum! So excuse me while I finish this beast of  a paper and turn my last cataloging project in! I can't quite say woohoo yet, but it's coming people! I hope you all have a fun filled weekend :)

One thing I definitely miss about living where it's cold is wearing all the fun accessories, gloves, scarves, ear muffs, leg warmers...I'm kind of obsessing over gloves right now, what do you think of the last pair, super cute right?! Have a fab weekend loves!

I Love Loose Curls

Image
There's something about soft curls that I love and always go back to when I'm tired of wearing a bun day in and day out. It's simple and chic at the same time. In my opinion you can never go wrong with this elegant look, right? I plan on sporting this do for the rest of year!

My Ideal Bookshelf

Image
I recently read about this book in the latest Town and Country Magazine and about died, a book about other people's bookshelves, I became overly excited half way through the article and searched the web to see who all was featured in My Ideal Bookshelf. At first all I really cared about was looking at the bookshelves, not so much the people then I began to pay a bit more attention to the list of contributors: Maira Kalman, David Sedaris, Patti Smith, Alice Waters-Winner! About a day or two later my boyfriend told me this cool new book about famous people's (from chefs and authors to movie producers) bookshelves had just been added to the library's catalog and thought I'd be interested in looking through it, so he kindly reserved this gem for me. The best part, I never told him about the article or the book, all the more reason to love him right?!
P.S. I'm ordering it today!

There's A Nightmare in My Closet

Image
Does anyway remember this book, I was totally nervous when my mom picked it out to read to my sister and I when we were little but I couldn't help but love it at the same time. Mercer Mayer, genius!

Quote of the Day

Image
"It is a miracle if you can find true friends, and it is a miracle of you have enough food to eat, and it is a miracle of you get to spend your days and evenings doing whatever it is you like to do, and the holiday season -like all the other seasons- is a good time not only to tell stories of miracles, but to think about the miracles in your own life, and to be grateful for them." -Lemony Snicket

There's a long list of things I could talk about being grateful for this year but I want to keep it simple, honest and genuine. I'm extremely thankful for those of you who continue to follow my site and for those who are new to reading Sit and Stay A While. Your  comments and support mean the world to me. I hope you all have a lovely holiday wherever you are and I hope you're keeping warm!

Happy Camper

Image
A few nights ago I came across this site after looking through old pictures of my days at Camp Walden in the little town of Denmark, Maine. Those two summers kind of changed my life and definitely for the better. Because I seriously miss those days I was on the hunt for finding the perfect camp tee. Then I came across Camp and fell in love. For you fellow use to be campers, this site is kind of great!

E-A-O

Image
So I went to an all girls camp in the tiniest of towns in the southern most part of Maine and I loved close to every minute of my summers spent there. A few weeks of girl fights and drama ultimately drove me to not wanting to go back the following summer, but at least I have those two summers. They are some of my best memories and I'm so grateful my parents let me live in the Maine wilderness for eight months of my life. A trip is in the works to visit the East Coat and good ol' Walden. Maine you sit in a very special place in my heart!

Casablanca

Image
For being the film buff that I am, I did not own this until yesterday. Knowing I didn't have this romantic classic, my brother, another movie junkie sent the ultimate collector's edition packed with countless special features, ten poster cards of all the original posters of the film plus more. It was a choice gift, I love it as I do the other thoughtful gifts my siblings and parents gave me. Have you seen Casablanca, I've only seen bits and pieces and I can't wait to huddle up to it this weekend!!!
