A New Year

Image
As if this past year wasn't chaotic enough, 2014 is going to be one long but also very exciting year for me. I will officially be done with school (hopefully for the rest of my life) and finally looking for a steady paycheck-which means there's an excellent chance I'll be moving for the third time. Let's hope it's a permanent move, so I can settle already. It may be a roller coaster of a year with writing my portfolio, confidently defending myself in front of a panel of professors, graduating and going from interview to interview, hoping for a permanent position as an official librarian.
With a new year means starting the next chapter in my young adult life. Adding a little sparkle and boldness to my wardrobe, creating, establishing and finding the right style to match my body type and personality. As well as settling in and creating a comfortable and cozy home and finding the chef inside me are some of my biggest goals for this coming year.  Learning to be more …

Open Your Eyes and Open Your Heart

Image
"Discovery consists not in seeking new lands but in seeing with new eyes." -Marcel Proust
Sometimes we let anger, sadness, depression, fear, rage and a flood of other emotion block our ability to be open, our ability to be curious about the world and everything in it. This year try to see beyond your troubles, beyond the people bringing you down and know you deserve to live your life to the fullest. Go out into the world with a new set of eyes and perhaps a broken heart to find that life will mend the pieces that are torn.

Saturday Happy

Image
I'm all about starting over, clearing out and being full of new and fresh ideas when it comes to my space. With the arrival of the new year in only a few days, I've already gotten started with cleaning out everything and am definitely ready for 2014 to be here. Let this be your motivation to take a second look at the garage or attic to see if you need to reexamine a few things to either discard or keep. What's making you happy this Saturday?

Friday Movies

Image
Nothing like a little new year inspiration than re-reading Liz Gilbert's Eat, Pray, Love and then cozying up and watching the film starring Julia Roberts. I love, love, love this movie. What are you watching this weekend?!

Friday Mornings

Image
Good morning and happy Friday my readers!!!! I don't know about you but it's been a long and pretty awesome week, I managed to cut my work week a little short and spend the rest of the time with family. Time was spent in my relaxation uniform, lounging and indulging in sugar cookies and way too much food left over from our Christmas dinner. I don't have much planned for this weekend other than celebrating a birthday, heading to another family event in San Diego and being a complete bum while I can (the minimalist style of this bedroom is exactly what I need, I don't even want to think about everything that needs to be cleaned up this very moment in my house). Enjoy the rest of your weekend and see you all next week.

Janet Hill's artwork has appeared everywhere from Tiffany and CoMatchbook MagazineDesign Sponge to bloggers like Oh Joy!. I've been a long time fan and the first piece of work I invest in for my home will be a few pieces from her collection. Do you have a favorite artist, share, suggest and let me know!!

Take More Classes

Image
So my number one goal for 2014 is working on my very own pieces of art. I've been looking into and checking out local art studios and classes, I'm totally psyched to learn about a subject I only discovered my love for in college. Have you been working on your list of goals to complete for the new year?!

No matter the occasion, whether for a casual outfit or a night out on the town, these Reva flats are timeless shoes and something every girl needs in her closet. Merry Christmas and treat yourself to something fun, feminine and ultra chic.

Last Minute Shopping

Image
With my sister in town for a few weeks this Christmas, we have been staying up late chatting about makeup, men and life after college, visiting the local Starbucks frequently, have cut out extra time for pounding the pavement and have spent a little too much money on ourselves. With only a little time to catch up and a little last minute shopping, she decided enough of me behind the camera and more of me in front of the lens. What better place to visit than my favorite, Kate Spade down El Paseo in our home town.

Friday Movies

Image
When the holidays come around there's nothing I love more than bringing out delicious treats for appetizers, decorating the house, getting cozy and tuning into the Hallmark Channel for their cheesy Christmas Movies. They're relaxing, enjoyable and a big guilty pleasure. Do you have a particular favorite, I actually love Mrs. Miracle Comes to Town.

Friday Mornings

Image
It's the week before Christmas and I imagine you're rushing to get final gifts for family and friends, the wrapping maybe only just starting and you've got a million things to cross off the list of things to do before next Wednesday. Am I right?! Well all these things are on my mind at the moment so my weekend is full of last minute shopping and wrapping as well as finding a few minutes to cozy up by the fire and enjoy a possible viewing of Gone With the Wind and baked goods. What are your plans for the weekend?!
