The 101 on Palm Springs

Growing up in the desert I never understood why anyone would want to live, vacation or retire to a community where there was more dirt and rock than grass in people's front yards. As Buzz explains to his sister in the film Home Alone, that Kevin is safe, he reminds of her of this, 'we live on the most boring street in the United States, period.' This is exactly how I felt about Palm Springs, I hated the desert landscape and the triple digit temp literally drove me two thousand miles away to the Midwest when I went away to college. But like the old saying goes, it takes living somewhere else to appreciate where you come from. So the desert can reach 117 degrees for three painstakingly months but the rest of the year, it is absolutely perfect. People from all over the world come to visit this charming little town, to simply enjoy the greatness of the desert.

We now are home to one of the biggest musical festivals, numerous hiking trails that fill the valley, strangely it is a beloved oasis for entertainment stars including everyone from past performers like Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, Leonardo Dicaprio as well as presidents who have vacationed, retired and have spent a lot of time in our valley.  One of the biggest national parks is only an hour drive away in Joshua Tree, this place is basically famous for being one of the most relaxing communities in the world.
