Friday Morning

Image
Hello readers, I don't know about you but I can't wait for the weekend. I have been looking forward to sleeping in all week due to three hour conversations and midnight chats with my fellow students who are equally annoyed with this project we've been working on. All I have in store for the weekend is hitting up the pool, there's a possibility I'll be sleeping all Saturday, starting The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins and wrapping up this month long school project (at least my peers are equally annoyed with this assignment, I'm glad I'm not the only one). What about you, what are your plans? Happy Weekend!!

How to Part Your Hair

Image
You're getting ready for work and you only have time for five minutes to spend on your hair. You want to wear your hair down but want to look pretty, effortless and work appropriate. Know your face shape? Figure out how to wear your part the right way :) (image via makeup)

February Beauty Favorites

Image
A few musts, favorites and beauty products I really want to get my hands on.  Over the holidays while my brother and sister were in town, I found myself digging through my sister's endless lipstick bag to find my new favorite, Creme Cup!! Get it. love it and then stock up. It's the perfect blush pink hue to add just a little color to your lips. And if you're looking for a new blush or lip stain, I love this Stila Palette. What are some of your favorite recent beauty purchases?

On Balance

Image
In the last seven weeks, I have officially been crazy lady. With wrapping up work assignments and creating new projects for myself on top of a very demanding academic semester (which means I have spent too many nights at Starbucks because the internet has been out), keeping up to date with the blog, making a big move across the valley, trying to find sleep between everything and trying to keep my sanity has been quite the challenge for the new year. I was not really sure what my resolutions were going to be for 2015 but handling this very busy schedule I've had as of late as been a little too much for me to handle. Luckily, the move is over which means I can relax a little bit more. When faced with a busy schedule how do you find balance between everything. How do you keep sane, remain calm and collected when you are with friends or family, when all you want to do is sleep or read a magazine? How do you find and keep balance in the midst of chaos and slow down?

I haven't seen Sweet Home Alabama in forever. It seems like the perfect movie for a weekend filled with unpacking boxes and settling into my new apartment. What are you watching this weekend?

Friday Mornings...

Image
Good morning readers, I hope you had an easy and somewhat relaxing week and hopefully you have a lovely weekend. I'm moving in my furniture, tidying up my new home, tending to more group work for school and sleeping through the rest of the weekend. I do not plan on getting out of bed at all this Sunday. I need to break this horrible habit of sleeping only a few hours a night, it's been a problem for two and half weeks.

this week's favorites...

One of my favorite pieces in my closet is a $30 dollar leopard dress from H&M. It's very simple but when I wear it, I feel classy and little more confident. There is something timeless and ultra feminine about leopard print, so whatever leopard you own whether it's a belt, flats or a scarf, haul it out and put it on. Happy Friday :)

Quoting Ashlina

Image
Since I am currently functioning in a sleep deprived state, I have only a few words of inspiration to pass along today, create happiness and inspire confidence. I've been following Ashlina's blog for four years and I am constantly inspired by her home decorating tips and her personal style. So I'm taking her words, framing them in my room so every time I walk by I remember to do just this. I hope you are having a wonderful day today :)

Home Challenge

Image
In the middle of moving I came across this great home challenge over at one of my favorite interior design blogs, The Decorista. Stuck in a rut over how I want to approach my new space, the ultra chic list of to dos is an excellent starting point to turn my home into a cozy and intimate environment. If you're in the mood to change a room or revamp your home, I suggest heading over and checking out the challenge :)

On Moving

Image
In the midst of keeping busy at work, staying caught up in class discussions and endless amounts of time dedicated to group work, I've decided to move! It has been a month of chaos, piles of books and messes everywhere, so I'm ready to be settled and have everything put away and in their new home. And while I am more than excited to be in a new space, closer to work, hiking trails and the pool, I'm over moving. I plan on staying put for a while, two moves in six months is enough. Since I know close to nothing when it comes to moving yourself, please share tips to make the process easier. How many times have you moved in the past year or two?!

When in Palm Springs

Image
Five things to do while staying in Palm Springs
1. Stay at Twin Palms, Frank Sinatra's House 2. Head downtown towards North Palm Springs and dine in at Birba 3. Visit the desert botanical garden Moorten in South Palm Springs 4. Hit up the ultra chic boutique hotels and relax in their swanky bars  5. Check out the many hiking trails, Tahquitz being my favorite

I Love Palm Springs

Image
Growing up in the California desert I never understood why the Coachella Valley was the vacation destination hangout. In my teenage mind, the desert was boring, it was a retirement community and literally the hottest place on the planet. As an adult, the desert is a different place. Home to many festivals like the Coachella Music Festival, art walks, golfing and being surrounded by modern art and architecture, the intimate village like atmosphere in downtown Palm Springs is very alluring. This week Palm Springs is celebrating many things, one being Modernism Week. If you're looking to vacation or just get away for a day or two, check out everything going on this month.  (1,2,3)

Nothing says Valentine's Day like Bridget Jones' Diary. Pick something super girly, get yourself some raspberry chocolate, popcorn and rose and enjoy your evening. What are you watching this weekend?

Friday Morning

Image
Good morning readers, how are you? In the last week I've hardly gotten any sleep due to schoolwork so I plan on staying in bed literally all weekend, except for a side trip out to the east end of the Coachella Valley to check out this massive art mural. Pictures will come in later this week! Sinking in to freshly washed linens, breakfast and reading in bed are the extent of my plans for the weekend. Happy Friday and see you Monday :)

Minimal + Cozy Spaces

Image
At the beginning of each year, I am always excited about pursuing my new list of goals, that list usually consists of three to five things: learning something new (whether it means start playing the piano again, learning a language or trying sewing classes for a third time), keeping a clean and organized home, keeping up to date with new books, eating healthy and keeping my mind in school. And while that combination keeps me in balance,  I know there will be challenges along the way.   And lately, my challenge revolves around the lack of motivation to keep my home space. The quaint, pretty and minimalist vibe I get from this apartment is everything I need at the moment.
