Friday Morning

Hello readers, I don't know about you but I can't wait for the weekend. I have been looking forward to sleeping in all week due to three hour conversations and midnight chats with my fellow students who are equally annoyed with this project we've been working on. All I have in store for the weekend is hitting up the pool, there's a possibility I'll be sleeping all Saturday, starting The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins and wrapping up this month long school project (at least my peers are equally annoyed with this assignment, I'm glad I'm not the only one). What about you, what are your plans? Happy Weekend!!

On Moving

In the midst of keeping busy at work, staying caught up in class discussions and endless amounts of time dedicated to group work, I've decided to move! It has been a month of chaos, piles of books and messes everywhere, so I'm ready to be settled and have everything put away and in their new home. And while I am more than excited to be in a new space, closer to work, hiking trails and the pool, I'm over moving. I plan on staying put for a while, two moves in six months is enough. Since I know close to nothing when it comes to moving yourself, please share tips to make the process easier. How many times have you moved in the past year or two?!

I Love Palm Springs

Growing up in the California desert I never understood why the Coachella Valley was the vacation destination hangout. In my teenage mind, the desert was boring, it was a retirement community and literally the hottest place on the planet. As an adult, the desert is a different place. Home to many festivals like the Coachella Music Festival, art walks, golfing and being surrounded by modern art and architecture, the intimate village like atmosphere in downtown Palm Springs is very alluring. This week Palm Springs is celebrating many things, one being Modernism Week. If you're looking to vacation or just get away for a day or two, check out everything going on this month.

Friday Morning

Good morning readers, how are you? In the last week I've hardly gotten any sleep due to schoolwork so I plan on staying in bed literally all weekend, except for a side trip out to the east end of the Coachella Valley to check out this massive art mural. Pictures will come in later this week! Sinking in to freshly washed linens, breakfast and reading in bed are the extent of my plans for the weekend. Happy Friday and see you Monday :)

The Daily Esacpe

It's only been a month into school and I am already thinking about summer reading lists, relaxing near the coast, new swimsuits and a full head to toe body massage. Of course with a heavy work load in school and most nights dedicated to group work, the rest of my time is spent thinking about how to make our youth programs bigger and better at the library.  And while I certainly enjoy the material and projects I'm working on in school, I am seriously exhausted. Wishful thinking has me dreaming of the Mediterranean Coast, what are you day dreaming about lately? What trips do you have in store this year?

The Little Market

Since I obviously follow Lauren's feed and day dream while going through her travel escapades around the world, I can't help but say I loved watching the little market come to life. With the mission to create hand crafted goods from women all over the world, Lauren's latest project focuses on  sharing these hand made items from local artisans who have put their heart and soul into their products. My cart is full of goodies, there are so many fun and pretty accessories from jewelry to home goods that are great for friends or yourself. Head over to the little market, enjoy yourself and get one or two things :)

Sunday Movie

Have you read the graphic novel, Ghost World by Daniel Clowes? It was the first graphic novel I read back when I started my masters program two years ago and even though I've read a handful of others, Ghost World still remains my favorite. I recently came across the film adaptation of the book and I can't wait to check it out :) What are you watching?

The Librarian Suggests

Good morning my awesome readers and Happy February. This year is already going by way to fast, I want everything to slow way down, well maybe we can fast forward through school with all the long nights and weekends I dedicate to studying. As if I have much time for pleasure reading and staying up to date with what's going on in the world of books, I am loving the second installment of Lucy Knisley's travelogue series, Displacement. I save the last fifteen minutes I have right before I hit the sheets to read something entertaining so I can sleep soundly and not worry about nightmares of missing deadlines or getting a nasty email from a professor. And after visiting the San Diego Library twice last month, I couldn't help but snag this perfectly illustrated book of New York, the writer and illustrator is fantastic. I'm already saving up to buy a few of a his prints for myself and my sister.
Although her music may not be mainstream here in the states, I was more than ecstatic with my intimate and up close encounter with the Singer/Songwriter Brooke Fraser. I'm always a little weary when it comes to live venues but Brooke proved to be a true artist. I can now happily cross off one bucket list singer :) If you have no idea who she is, check out her music on her site
