Happy Saturday

Image
I'm pretty impressed that I've been plowing through my summer reading list like a boss!!  In the last few months I've gone through four books and currently working on my newest read, The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. It's to be placed in my top five favorite stories immediately. It's dark but enchanting, mysterious, full of romance and takes place in postwar Barcelona. Zafon is a natural story teller, you're transported to the cobblestone streets of mid-century Spain, and can't help but become infatuated with his characters-a definite page turner, Zafon makes you fall in love again and again with this master piece of a novel. I can't wait to get my hands on the prequel, unfortunately I'm on the hold's list at the library for it but at least I'm next on the list for The Angel's Game. Did I mention the other books I'm currently waiting for at the library mixed with books from my personal library I need to tend to this summe…

Friday Movies

Image
After years of watching this rerun on television while growing up in the nineties, I eventually bought this hilarious and classic movie staring Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino back in college. A bit cheesy and ridiculous, I can't help but admit it's in my top twenty favorite chick flicks. What's one movie you'll admit to being a particular favorite but isn't necessarily a quality film? So grab a couple friends, have a girls night in with your favorite movies from childhood and have a fun night.

Friday Mornings

Image
It's Friday, hooray!!! However I'm definitely not enjoying the triple digit heat or looking forward to hitting a scorching temperature of close to 120 degrees; it's getting crazy out there :/ What are you up to this weekend to keep yourself cool? To me a game of scrabble with friends and wine sound like a good time to me, oh and did I mention I've been secretly watching my newest guilty pleasure, Running in Heels, it ran on the Style network back in 2009, I can't stop watching this ridiculous show. While I lounge around drinking ice cold drinks, eat popsicles and dream of sprawling out in this cabin chic bedroom, I hope you're able to dodge the heat and have a fun weekend.

with summer in full force i'm not sure what exactly i want to embrace with my nail lacquer this season. bright and bold, patterned, a pretty nudish pink color (such a delicate, summery and fresh look), or sticking to good old black because there's more glamorous than perfectly painted black nails. happy friday ya'll!!

Treat Yourself

Image
Have you tried out The Dry Bar? I haven't but the idea of spending an afternoon getting a mani and your hair styled for a reasonable price would be such a fun treat to share with a group of friends or having a little sister bonding time. We don't have an actual Dry Bar here but there is All Tressed Up, its right around the corner from my house, so tempting for a free afternoon. Treat yourself to a little primping for no particular reason this week!!

Succulents or Peonies

Are you ready to start your summer on the right foot, feel like you need to be productive but want to make sure that you enjoy every minute of the next three sunny months? Well the summer series is back in action and I can't wait to share what I've compiled for you all.
For starters, any of you out there wishing you had a green thumb (but don't) or the nurturing feeling to start a garden? Like I've mentioned before I know very little about gardening or planting, heck I can only count on two hands all the flower species I know! Obviously this needs to change since I have grown to love my full blooms of just picked flowers and the desert succulents that grow around me. For now, I'm sticking to potted plants, you know to get the hang of this taking care of a living thing!!

Saturday Happy

Image
I've made it well aware on this blog that I am a Kate Spade addict, so the news of Kate Spade Saturday was kind of HUGE when I found out about it launching. SO when I heard about an actual store not just the online shopping experience I was more than thrilled. This is excellent news, Thank you Kate Spade Saturday, you've made me weekend all the better :) What's making you happy this week?

This film actually came out earlier this week and I had to watch it as soon as it went live. It's kind of a little treat of a flick, check it out and tell me what you think :) What are you watching this weekend?

Friday Mornings

Image
I'm not gonna lie this week has been pretty awesome, I hope yours was some kind of wonderful as well. Despite it being in the triple digits here, I've managed to keep myself cool and my mind occupied with up coming trips, talking to my siblings and finding things to do that don't require staying outside too long. I've been working on my summer series of fun things to do on a budget (that will be up within the next few weeks) and coming up with my own personal list of things to do this summer with friends and loved ones. One thing on the list, breakfast in bed! Doesn't this bedroom look so dreamy? Have a great weekend and see you next week!!

this week's favorites...

Image
I don't know what's up but I'm craving some serious sweets. I'll just go ahead and say I'm a salty eater, on a typical day I'll almost always choose chips or nuts to candy or deserts. However lately I can't seem to get enough sweets, cheesecakes in particular. From top to bottom, a blueberry swirl, tiramisu, brownie, Boston Cream Pie and cherry cheesecakes, I'm wanting a piece of blueberry swirl, doesn't that sound so perfect to kick starting to the weekend, I think so!

Fresh + Clean

Image
I've been using Crabtree & Evelyn ever since I can remember. Lucky for me there isn't a location here in the desert, otherwise my weekends would be spent at the counter testing scents and spending more than enough on their products. I've gone back and forth between several different fragrances, however I always come back to my favorite, Aloe Vera. It's fresh, subtle and oh so clean feeling after the shower. Whenever in doubt choose Aloe Vera, you won't regret it!

The Scent of Summer

Image
Without thinking too long what are the scents that quickly come to mind when day dreaming or thinking about a long, hot summer day; is it certain foods you're mother used to make while growing up or perhaps the beach? For me the sense of smell definitely dominates my other senses and associating them with certain (childhood) memories makes it all the better, whenever I inhale my first breath around the beach, memories of past summer trips to La Jolla as a kid flood my memory and I can't help think happy thoughts. Here goes, my top five include just bloomed wild flowers, fresh linens, the mixture of the salty water of the ocean and sand, chlorine and citrus.

Summer Kick Start

Image
When I came across this sweater and saw this towel this past weekend while shopping, I decided I needed at least a thousand greenbacks to buy all the summer goodies my eyes came cross over the past few days.  But for now these are a few of my top swim picks, my favorite skin saving and hair essentials and books I really want to read. What's on your summer list?!

Just Washed Sheets

Image
Summer to me means waking up with the sun, wrestling around in just washed sheets for a few minutes each morning, opening the windows for fresh air, cleaning out my drawers and closets and spending all day by the pool with sangria in hand. What does summer mean to you?

Shop Brooklyn

Image
I first came across these beauties last summer, major props to the maker behind Gift Shop Brooklyn, you're a gem Annie!!!! I love how simple, versatile, delicate and pretty they are. Dress them up or down, I could cart any one of these babies around day or night. I would be a happy camper if I could take all these home. Which one would you pick?

Vince Stole My Heart

Image
After my first semester away at college, I couldn't wait to come home lie on the couch, be a little lazy and spend quality sister bonding time, which of course meant shopping. So by the time my first winter break rolled around I had made bank from student working and I was so ready to treat myself to a little something nice. It was then I discovered my love for Vince clothing; there was something about the delicate and softness to their shirts, the limited choice of color and the simplicity of their brand that drew me in. This weekend I came across this sweater and immediately I was reminded of why I love this brand so much. Happy Tuesday!!!
