Pretty Head Pieces

Image
It's taken me awhile to get into turbans and head pieces, they always look goofy and awkward on me. However, whenever I come across an intricate pretty headband, I can't help but pick up one or two and carry it around with me while I continue to shop until I convince myself it will just never look good on me. A few days ago I finally took a little time to fiddle with this gorgeous turban I found and finally made it work with my hairdo. I'm excited to say, I'm back on for shopping for headbands, have any other suggestions for me?!

I'm totally excited that I get to dress up twice this year. I'll be channeling my inner 80's exerciser for partying and Fancy Nancy for work. My costume is outrageous for Miss Fancy Nancy and I can't wait to reveal it Thursday afternoon at work! Will you be dressing up more than once this week?!

Bring Back the 80's

Image
I've always wanted the confidence to rock the outfit in Eric Prydz music video, Call On Me, ridiculous I know but it's something I've wanted to dress up as for Halloween. Although not that risque I will be channeling an 80's exercise costume this Halloween. What are you going as?!

Saturday Happy

Image
We've discussed podcasts once before and I revealed I really had no clue or saw what the big deal was. Six years later, a day doesn't go by without listening to my some of my absolute favorites. After recommendations from friends and my guy, Friday doesn't seem right without my routine of a bubble bath and listening to NPR. When it comes to Pop Culture, I couldn't imagine a discussion not including Linda, Glen, Stephen and Trey from NPR's Pop Culture Happy Hour. In fact it was the last segment of their podcast that inspired this here series, so what's making you happy this week? Have any other podcast suggestions, I'm all ears?!

Friday Movies

Image
The Truman Show, yay or nay?! Growing up I remember my brother and dad watching it over and over, I always found it boring and uninteresting. Fast forward about ten years, this is what I have to say now, I love The Truman Show! What are you watching this weekend?!

Friday Morning

Image
I'm keeping it short this week so I hope you have a good one. Eat delicious and comforting food, have a night out on the town and check out a new bar with friends, wear deep red (I found this beautiful deep and lustful red lip stain by Revlon), sleep in Saturday and surround yourself with fresh and clean sheets (I would love to close myself in, draw the curtains around this bed and go back to sleep) and enjoy the fact you don't have to worry about readings, assignments or finals. And if you are, I feel your pain. Have a great weekend and see you Monday!

Made by Girl

Image
I've mentioned several times on the blog that I'm head over heels about modern art. I know many people just don't get or understand the modern movement and that's okay, but it speaks to me. Living in a community that is cultured and defined by modern art and mid century architecture, I'd say I need to immerse myself a little more into the Palm Springs lifestyle and get into the art scene here. But for now I'll just head over to Made by Girl and swoon over her gorgeous prints. Make sure to read up on and check out Jen Ramos and her collection on her site.

Talk to Me

Image
After reading the latest Anthology, (it's quickly becoming my favorite subscription), I've been inspired to try my hand at creating something of my very own. How it will turn out, I'm really not quite sure since my experience in an art class is of one I took my freshman year of college. Which is why I resorted to studying art history rather than art itself while in school. I've always had this burning desire to create my own but having no idea where to begin or someone to inspire me has been the hardest part in this whole endeavor. The love of modern art and splashing a bucket directly on to canvas sounds about right to me. The uncontrolled movement of paint, mixing and splashing colors with one another and letting it create itself is the style I most admire. Do you have a particularly favorite style or movement when it comes to art? I'd love to know your take on art?!

Pet Peeves

Image
It's National Pet Peeve Week, go ahead and show me your list:
1. People who leave shopping baskets in parking spaces, put it away! 2. As mentioned above: when people talk to you, when you're clearly reading a book. 3. When people talk over others, RUDE! 4. People who lack certain manners like not saying thank you to waiters. 5. In general, I can't deal with extremely loud people.  6. Beyond chipped nail polish, just take it off please before you drive me insane!

Saturday Happy

Image
I am so beyond excited to announce the newest addition to the blog, The Action Plan. From Pinterest and bookmarked blogs, my daily reads which include both digital and glossy magazines that range from art, lifestyle, spirituality, fashion and design, Music, Art and Travel, folders of DIY projects and cooking recipes, the stacks of books that define my bedroom, observing people in their daily lives, the creativity that  for now only resides in my brain and life itself is the inspiration for me to live completely in the moment. We tend to plan for the future and dwell on/regret events from our pasts. This is no way to spend our time, so why not look forward to fun date nights with friends and lovers, create at home projects for yourself, host a movie marathon, learn that instrument you've been trying to sign up for and even splurge on yourself, from nail polish to $400 shoes. Be a more conscious being, give yourself some attention and live in the moment with me! I hope you enjoy Th…

Friday Movies

Image
Growing up in household where movies were a part of most Friday and even Saturday evenings, film and television were big part of my upbringing. Which is why it's no surprise most of my childhood, I dreamed of becoming an actress. And even though my parents never encouraged me to take that path, my experience in entertainment was in taking on local theater productions. Knowing my voice would never take me to the stage, I resorted to taking courses in the history of theater, creative script writing and production and set design while in college and let me tell you I loved every minute.  During the second half of my history of theater, we focused on reading six plays, one being August Osage County. Acting the parts of this incredible cast of characters and dissecting the script in class, I'll never forget being a part of such a fun experience with classmates and quite a theatrical professor. So, you can imagine the excitement I have for this film...and the cast?! Nothing else ne…

Friday Mornings

Image
It is Friday, woohoo!!!! How's your week been...long, hectic, just right, whatever the case I hope it's been a good one. For the first time maybe since the beginning of school I was actually ahead of schedule so I was able to play hooky and take a day and a half off of school to enjoy an afternoon to myself. For the first time in a while, I actually have nothing planned for the weekend, so it sounds just about right to enjoy the quietness around the house, sleep in a bit which means rising with the sun (the early bird in me makes it impossible to sleep in past 7:15 in the morning), perfecting my omelet skills and keep working on my digital curation  project for my preservation class. Have a fabulous weekend and see you Monday :)
