Make-Up Inspirations

Image
So I found this on pinterest about a few weeks ago and fell in love with these apricot cheeks. My make-up inspiration for the week, less eye make-up and more color on the cheek! Plus how gorgeous is the exetremely loose braid, don't you just love this!

Day Thirty One-Take A Walk

Image
I've gotta say one of the great things about growing up in Southern California is the unlimited outdoor activity that's available all year (something truly valuable), which is why it's such a desirable destination for many. Now that I'm a little older and little wiser, I've come to realize how important and how lucky I am to have the access of being able to go on a hike in January! Now since I'm in the desert the mountains are definitely not as appealing as they are in this picture, but getting the hike in is what counts. There's a particular trail that I just love here in the desert, its challenging but not impossible and once you reach the top you can see the entire valley and let me tell you its gorgeous, especially when the sun is rising in the morning.  I realize now as I'm posting this not everyone can go on a hike, since it's pretty chilly in most places. But maybe go for a five minute walk if its bearable outside just to get some inner body…

Day Thirty-Full of Pump

Image
For the most part I've always been a flat girl, but after spending my summer months in New York where women roam the city streets in their pumps, being the shorty I am I fell in love the three, four inch heels. Over the summer I bought my first pair of black suede heels from Ann Taylor so I'd look like a New Yorker and let me tell you I can't take them off! I wear them to work, wear them casually, dress them up for a night out on the town they've become my go to pair of shoes. Since then I can't get enough of these lovelies and have been going to town purchasing more. Plus for me at least, I totally make my strut a little more sassy because they'res nothing more sexy than a great pair of pumps! Haul out your pair and wear them today.

this week's favorites...

Image
you can never go wrong with woody allen.  probably the best rom com, in my opinion that is.  could always use a little maria. can easily watch this every night, no joke. you can never go wrong with audrey's beautiful smile.
For the past few weeks now I've been desperately missing living in New York especially since I recently found out I will be moving back to the city in only four short months. So in anticipation, last night I instinctively put on my favorite romantic comedy based in Manhattan, Serendipity with John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale.  So I decided for "this week's favorites..." I'd post my top five favorite rom-coms shot in New York: so in order of photos, my favorites include Manhattan, Serendipity,West Side Story, You've Got Mail and Breakfast at Tiffany's. What are you favorite New York flicks? I hope everyone has a fun-filled weekend, I'm headed to L.A. since I didn't make it last weekend!

Day Twenty Six-Hair Dos

Image
For the past few weeks I've been in rut with how to fix my hair (mostly for work), of course a slick pony is always clean and chic looking, however I need to get with it and have some style. So I've been all over the web looking for some styling tips and up-dos, here are just a few that I found over at Wit and Delight, what do you think, gorgeous right? Try a new hair-do today!

Day Twenty Five-Remodel

Image
a few wild flowers and brass bird.  old chalkboard to pinboard, burlap to be weaved through flowers. new lamp shade and classics shelved behind. wreaths make all the difference. I love starting new projects around my place, whether its transforming a piece of furniture or taking on a room to re-do, I actually just finished with my room. Here are a few added and inexpensive touches.  Make  a few changes to your place, the little things make a big difference.

Man Crush

Image
I don't know if its his good looks, his jaw droppingly beautiful voice and the way he dresses or the fact that I feel we're slighty connected because he looks exactly like a friend of mine, but I am just loving Darren Criss and am dying to see him preform in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (like really bad) !

Day Twenty Four-Leather Jacket Love Affair

Image
It wasn't until maybe a year or two ago when I started to expand my taste in clothes. For the most part I stuck to a somewhat preppy and bohemian style of fashion, however I've realized how much I love the more vintage edgy rocker look as well.  To me there is nothing more cool looking than a loose fitted white tee, worn cuffed jeans with white converse, a leather jacket, aviators and a messy au natural hair style. The feeling of sliding your arms in a leather jacket makes me want to rev up a motorcycle engine and hang with the bad boys, because there's something so sexy about those bad boys. So find your inner bad girl and break out that leather jacket. (One of my favorite jackets is from Target that is about two years old-love it!)

Day Twenty-Three-Paint Something

Image
I don't know what's been going on lately but apparently my brain is telling me I need to be artistic. For the past month now I have been creating crafts and wanting to learn to knit scarves, leg-warmers, mittens and other things now I'm on this painting kick. I think it all started during my freshman year of college; as I was looking for electives to fill my schedule I decided I'd try out an art history class. Let me tell you people, thinking it would be somewhat of an easy classs, Art History was honestly one of the hardest classes I took while in school. And silly me decided why not take more, turns out I was two credits short of receving a minor in Art History.  Anyways I fell deeply in love with learning about expressionist and post modern art especially! So the other day I bought a gargantuan canvas at Michaels and had a blast impersonating Pollock, as I flung and flicked paint on to the canvas. I've got to say, it felt great! I'm excited to share it with…

this week's favorites...

Image
love a big fluffy ballet tutu. a light ballet stretch.  lovely ballet shoes. getting ready for a ballet class.  If I could fit into my seven year old body's tutu that I absolutely kept, I'd wear it!
My biggest dream when I was a little girl was being a prima ballerina!  Since I've been in a ballet mood this past week, I thought I'd post a few of my favorite ballet photos. Happy Friday everyone, can you believe how fast this week went!! I hope you all have a fun weekend, I'm heading to Los Angeles to enjoy the weather, hang out at The Grove and check out the Rose Flea Market, pretty excited!

Day Nineteen-Hometown Adventures

Image
I've always been very adventurous and curious to learn about cultures and societies outside my own and although I've had the great fortune of traveling out of my state and out of country, there is still much to learn even in your own town. While planning trips and excursions in far away destinations is always something fun (it expands our knowledge of the outside world as well), exploring your own community is just as important. During my collegiate years while I was a poor student traveling wasn't much of an option, so it was up to my friends and I to find things to do around town. Now I've become an expert at how to "travel" and explore my hometown. Be a bit more savvy and purchase these cards, Anywhere: A Travel Guide here! I promise you will have so much fun using these cards when your out and about. So, take a weekend off and venture out into your town with this awesome set of travel cards. Hint: Also, they make for a great gift!

Day Seventeen-Just Dance

Image
From the time I was three years old and enrolled in dance classes, you couldn't stop me from dancing. I have taken everything from ballet to tap classes, every jazz class imaginable, lyrical, modern dance, acrobatics, even a little ballroom dance, I've done it all. Since the dance program at the college I attended was a popular and pretty good program, I took just about everything they had to offer to keep me moving through college. Now that I've been out of school and in the working world I definitley miss it. So I'm excited to say after seven months of not moving my derriere, I'm ready to get back into it and am thrilled to be taking a jazz class. Enroll in a local dance class this month and try it out!
